DIRECTIONS
Stasney's Cook Ranch is located in the heart of North Central Texas, 135 miles West of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and 35 miles Northeast of Abilene. 

The Ranch is about 5 miles North of Albany in historic Shackelford County, Texas.  This large wooden derrick marks the new entrance on FM 1084.   

  • From Dallas/Fort Worth -  
    • Option 1:  Take I-20 west approximately 100 miles and exit at Cisco, Texas.  Take Hwy 6 north about 30 miles to Albany, Texas.  Head straight through the traffic light on FM 1084 / Cook Field Road.   Our new entrance is 5.5 miles up FM 1084 from the traffic light in town and is marked with a 42 foot wooden oil derrick.   Turn right at the derrick and go about 3 miles to the Stasney's Cook Ranch HQ.    
    • Option 2 (More direct & scenic):  Take I-20 west approximately 25 miles and exit to the right at Weatherford, Texas.  Take Hwy. 180 through Weatherford, Mineral Wells, Breckenridge to the courthouse in downtown Albany.  Take a right (west) at the only traffic light in town on FM 1084 / Cook Field Road and proceed about 5.5 miles to our new ranch entrance.  The entrance is marked with a 42 foot wooden oil derrick.   Turn right at the derrick and go about 3 miles to the Stasney's Cook Ranch HQ. 
  • From Abilene, Texas -  
    • Take State Hwy. 351 northwest about 30 miles to downtown Albany, Texas.  Take a left (west) at the only traffic light in town by the Courthouse on FM 1084/ Cook Field Rd.  Our new entrance is 5.5 miles down FM 1084 from the traffic light in town and is marked with a 42 foot wooden derrick.   Turn right at the derrick and go about 3 miles to the Stasney's Cook Ranch HQ.    
           
  • From Austin, Texas -

    Take US Hwy. 183 northwest toward Round Rock, Brownwood and Cisco.  At Cisco take Hwy 6 north about 30 miles to the courthouse in Albany, Texas.  Head straight through the traffic light on FM 1084 / Cook Field Road.   Our new entrance is 5.5 miles up FM 1084 from the traffic light in town and is marked with a 42 foot wooden oil derrick.   Turn right at the derrick and go about 3 miles to the Stasney's Cook Ranch HQ.    

  • From Albany, Texas - 
    Head west from the only traffic light in town by the Courthouse on FM 1084/ Cook Field Rd.  Our new entrance is 5.5 miles down FM 1084 from the traffic light in town and is marked with a 42 foot wooden derrick.   Turn right at the derrick and go about 3 miles to the Stasney's Cook Ranch HQ.    
     
  • OR, Head north on Hwy. 283 and travel about 6 miles toward Throckmorton, Texas.   You will see a "Stasney's Cook Ranch" sign on the right with an arrow pointing to the Nail Ranch entrance on the left.  Turn west (left) and drive through the rock gate that says "Nail Ranch."  At the first cattle guard (about one mile) there is another "Stasney's Cook Ranch" sign.  Turn left and go approximately three miles to the ranch headquarters.

AIRPORTS:

Albany:  The Albany Airport is owned by the city.  It is located about 2 miles due east of downtown Albany, Texas.  The asphalt runway runs north/south and is 3700' long and 60' wide.   For more details call the City Manager, Bobby Russell, at (325) 762-3133. 

Abilene:  Accepts private and commercial planes.  It is located on the southeast side of Abilene.   Continental Express and American Eagle each run about 3 flights daily.   Rental cars are available.   

Breckenridge/Stephens County:   The Stephens County airport is publicly owned and is located about 3 miles south of Breckenridge towards Cisco on Highway 183.  The Stephens County Airport recently upgraded to a 5200 ft. primary runway and runway lighting system.
